2007-08 Season

Thank you for your interest in the Julian Robotics Club. We are very excited about the upcoming season and look forward to our best year ever. Below we have outlined some basic information about the club and look forward to seeing you on the first meeting.

Objective: To provide Julian students with an opportunity to design, build and program a remote controlled robot from scratch.

Who: This club is open to all Julian Students. We expect to have about 30-35 student participants in the club, as well as four to five+ adult coaches.

Teams: We have the supplies to build nine robots this year and thus hope to have nine teams. Each team will consist of a max of four students and be led by a team captain.

Coaches: Tim Walsh—7th and 8th Grade Science Teacher
Emily Gora---8th Grade Science Teacher
Bob Parks--- Percy Julian Parent Volunteer, Professional Computer Programmer
Sergio Firpo---Percy Julian Parent Volunteer, Professional Engineer

We need more adult coaches! Please contact Tim Walsh at twalsh@op97.org to get involved.

Meetings: The dates of the meetings are all listed on the backside of this sheet. For the most part we will have a meeting after school every Thursday until the end of March. Students are asked to treat this commitment seriously and attend all meetings.

Events: We intend to focus our efforts on two major events this year:
  • Road Trip: Vex Challenge in Milwauke Wisconsin, Sunday, December, 2nd
  • “Team Julian Intramural Challenge” Some time in November
  • “Middle School Vex Challenge” Brooks vs. Julian, sometime in late March.
